On Tuesday 4 November, we were delighted to hold a virtual event with Lord Norton of Louth, who was interviewed by Liam Roberts. Lord Norton subsequently participated in a Q&A with our members.

Lord Norton is widely regarded as Britain's foremost expert on Parliament and a global authority on constitutional issues. He has served as a Professor of Government at the University of Hull since 1992. Created a life peer in 1998, Lord Norton has been an active member of the House of Lords, contributing to debates on parliamentary reform and public policy. He founded and edits The Journal of Legislative Studies, chairs the Conservative Academic Group, and leads the Higher Education Commission, whilst authoring influential works such as The British Polity.

Liam Roberts is a British Politics and Legislative Studies student at the University of Hull and Deputy Chairman of East Leeds Conservatives. He is a student of Lord Norton and, earlier this year, wrote an article in The Crown & Mace in support of the House of Lords. The article was inspired by the thoughts and ideas of Lord Norton.

Lord Norton spoke on a range of issues, including the House of Lords, devolution, and other workings of our constitution. We are immensely grateful to him for providing a very interesting evening.

We would also like to thank all members who attended our inaugural event. We look forward to holding more events in the near future.
