Our Country is blessed with a rich history. A centuries-long Island story that produced an entrancing, unique constitution.

 

Our constitution is an inheritance, forged by history, possessing strength through age. It’s made our Country a beacon of political stability for centuries. We exported this successful system across the world, creating other thriving democracies such as in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

 

Today though, our historic constitution is under assault. It started with the constitutional vandalism of New Labour through reforms such as the Human Rights Act and the creation of the Supreme Court.

 

These reforms have not been a success: they have prevented the deportation of dangerous foreign criminals, made the judiciary political, and undermined parliamentary sovereignty.

 

Now, the new Labour Government is seeking to vandalise our constitution even more.

 

The proposed removal of hereditary peers is a flippant act that would eject staunchly committed members from the House of Lords, the only members of that House who are impervious to the pressures of partisan politics and the possibility of partisan political patronage. It is nothing more than a power grab designed to expel opposition legislators.

 

This is why we need a fightback and a vehicle to hold the constitutional vandalisers to account. Constitutional Conservatives UK is this vehicle. We aim to build opposition to these reforms amongst MPs, peers, and policy makers.

Our executive committee includes members of the Conservative Party and Reform UK, but we are not formally affiliated with any political party. We welcome members from many different parties.

 

The demise of our historic constitution isn’t inevitable, and we should never view it as such.
