•    The Human Rights Act (HRA) has halted or delayed the deportation of dangerous foreign criminals and illegal migrants, including migrants with prior criminal records.

•    The incorporation of universal human rights into British law has been deeply damaging.

•    “Declarations of incompatibility” under the HRA have undermined parliamentary sovereignty.

•    Before the HRA, rights were already well-protected with the principle of residual liberties (individuals were free to do anything not expressly prohibited by law), common law rights such as free speech, and statutory protections like the Habeas Corpus Act.

•    We should pass a Rights and Freedoms (Restoration) Act to restore the framework for protecting rights as it existed prior to the HRA.

•    For law courses and legal training, revise curriculum content and materials to focus on common law rights, residual liberties, and British statutory protections.
